Vision Multi-Sport | Triathlon Training

Ironman Wisconsin 2013

Welcome to Vision Multi-Sport
Triathlon coaching designed for the beginner and intermediate multisport athlete.
Andrea Hirth, USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach

A little history.

Since the birth of Ironman in Kona, HI in 1978, the sport of triathlon has seen tremendous growth.  In 1994 triathlon was admitted to the Olympic program as a medal sport for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.  Today, there are dozens of Ironman races worldwide and the shorter distances continue to grow in popularity.

Many of us have joined the sport through the less daunting distances of sprint, Olympic or half Ironman races.  If you've ever said "I could NEVER do that!"  You're not alone.  I recall laughing out loud when my friend suggested we do the Danskin Women's Triathlon in Pleasant Prairie, WI, just for the challenge of it.  That was in 2003.  Now, 30+ triathlons later, I want to show you that you can.

Competing in triathlon is a journey of self-discovery.  Success comes from setting realistic goals and completely believing in yourself.

Why do I need a coach?

We are all individuals with different fitness goals.  For many of us, sport is a hobby and we're often in a time crunch to fit it all in.

My goal as a USA Triathlon Certified Coach is to design a personalized training plan that matches your lifestyle so you can achieve your goals in multisport and keep life balanced.  A quality coach must be a good listener, acknowledging that communication is a two-way street.  I practice a positive teaching style and recognize athlete safety is of primary importance.

In addition to the swim, bike and run workouts, my program values recovery from those workouts, practicing transitions and strength training.  Nutrition and psychological skills training also play a key role in training and event preparation.  I believe that eating a balanced diet is important for maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle.  For multisport athletes, nutrition periodization, paired with a personalized training plan, will fuel performance and bring successful results.  Whether you are a beginner in the Milwaukee or Chicago area who just wants to finish a sprint race, or a competitive athlete looking for an edge to crack the top 10 in your age group, I can help.
